Cost Price Explanation
It is our intention to have total transparency and to advise our customers of the purchase price, profit margin, origins of the product and correct grading. The following notes explain how the cost price is calculated.
If you have any questions about our disclosure of cost price or any other matter, please don’t hesitate to contact us. sales@meatwarehouse.com.au
Whole products with no portioning or slicing involved.
The cost price will be the purchase price only and will not include freight, labour or refrigeration cost. Often surcharges, rebates and marketing are part of the supplier contract arrangements and where applicable, they are included in the cost price.
Portioned or sliced products.
Generally when products are sliced, the first cut, fat and some bone is removed and up to 20% can be lost.
The 20% loss is absorbed by The Meat Warehouse so the only price the customer sees is the purchase price which includes the 20% loss.
Dry Aged Products
Dry Aged Products lose between 7% and 20% whilst ageing and the amount of loss depends on the length of age. At The Meat Warehouse we use humidity control, ultra violet rays and humidity stabilisers to minimise the loss.
The price displayed to the customer is the purchase price which includes any portioning loss plus yield loss due to the ageing process.
