With discounts and specials now complicating the whole process of filling your shopping trolley we have done the work for you.
We all know that we could save money on our weekly food bill by shopping around but have you ever had the time to compare prices?

We selected at random independent grocers and butchers along with Coles, Woolworths and Aldi to compare the price of meat and fruit and vegetables.
Apples, bananas, tomatoes, lettuce, carrots, onions and potatoes with premium mince, rump steak, barbecue sausages and skinless chicken breast.
On the city's east side, Aldi was the winner in the fruit and vegetable section at $9.33, followed by Woolworths at $17.47 and Fruit Temptations at Camp Hill with $17.87.
For meat, Aldi was again the cheapest, coming in at $41.85. Coles was $50.40 while Woolworths was $55.16.
On the city's south side Aldi was cheapest for fruit and vegetables at $9.33. Banana George was second at $15.26 while Woolworths at Buranda came in at $17.87.
New players in the meat market are helping to drive down prices with Bedrock Meats (Meat Warehouse) at Yatala $37.78, Super Butcher at Yatala $39.92 and Aldi at $41.85.
On the city's west side, Aldi again won fruit and vegetables with $9.33, Coles at the Gap was $17.88 and Toowong Fruit Markets was $19.44.
Aldi won the meat competition with $41.85, Woolworths in Kenmore Tavern Plaza was $47.94 while Fernyway Meats 'n More at Ferny Grove came in with $52.96.
On the north side, Aldi had the cheapest fruit and vegetables with $9.33, Rode Fruit and Veg was $19.22 with Woolworths Chermside at $19.33.
In the meat department it was the big three. Coles was cheapest with $40, followed by Aldi at $41.85 and Woolworths Chermside third.
Overall the best value Butcher in Brisbane was Bedrock (Meat Warehouse) at Yatala.
